[column grid=”2″ span=”1″] Planning for the Edsel production began in 1953. By the time the Edsel ceased production in 1960 the entire car market was depressed and the medium price slot for Edsel had shriveled from 25% to 18% of market share.

Expectation sales of 100,000 units fell short with only 63,000 units for 1957. Sales for 1959 fell to 45,000 units and by 1960 total production ceased and Edsel became one of those names left in history as unsuccessful.
